Some of the most eye opening things I learned from this week's TIME articles was about how animals do have social needs and emotions. I did not know to the extent of which animals needed companions, but now I know that most - if not all - animals are social creatures much like us. Even more so, animals do create meaningful relationships and mourn lost friends/family.
Syllabus Summary -->
The three major assignments in this course are the Scicomm Article & Literature Review, the Advocacy Project, and the Final Portfolio.
The policy for late work is that the instructor can lower the assignment grade by 1/3 for every day it is late.
We have a grade contract so that grading is fair and it keep both the instructor and students in check. It also is to make sure students are learning rather than worrying about the grade.
You can calculate you grade using this method: everyone starts with an 84 -- if you get 3 9's it results in a -1, if you get 3 11's it results in a +1. Any 0's result in -1 and EC's in which you get a full score is +1. If you add up your +1's and -1's to the total grade (84), you can find your final grade.
